Vincent Aengevaeren

After finishing my master in Medicine (February 2015), I started here as a PhD-student on a project investigating the cardiac consequences of endurance training. During my time here, I will focus on answering the intriguing question: Can too much exercise hurt the heart?

During my study I did the Honours programme in the bachelor and master, and did my research internships in Dallas (Texas, USA) at the Institute for Exercise and  Environmental Medicine. There I studied the effect of lifelong exercise on baroreflex function and cerebral autoregulation, the effect of pulsatile/non-pulsatile  flow of left ventricular assist devices on cerebral autoregulation, the effect  of exercise on mild cognitive impairment and several other subjects. The knowledge I gained while doing research during my study will hopefully get my  PhD project off to a flying start.
