He investigated a novel Mitochondria-localized Glutamine Acid Rich Protein which is highly expressed in the visual system and steroid hormone secretion tissues, in this research he studied the function of MGARP in the development of the retina in the MGARP knockout mouse. In another research he focused on a gene called renalase, which is highly expressed in the kidney and testis, in this research he found that Valsartan can promote atherosclerotic plaque stabilization by upregulating renalase.
