Juan Pablo Rigalli

Juan Pablo Rigalli (b. 1985) obtained his Master's degree in Biotechnology (2009) and his PhD in Biological Sciences (2013) at Rosario University in Argentina. During this early phase of his career he worked in the field of molecular pharmacology and studied the potential of therapeutic agents to act as perpetrators of drug-drug interactions, specially by regulation of ATP binding cassette (ABC) drug transporters. Juan has been always interested in the molecular mechanisms underlying pharmacological effects and interactions. In 2015 he moved to Heidelberg (Germany) where he was awarded a research grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG) to evaluate the interaction between human papillomaviruses, ABC transporters and multidrug resistance in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Currently, he is working in the frame of his recently awarded Radboud Excellence Fellowship studying the mechanisms of ATP release by renal tubular cells and the impact of purinergic signaling in renal physiopathology.
