PhD candidate
Mark van Goor

Mark van Goor completed his MSc degree in Biomedical Sciences at the Radboud University in Nijmegen. During his master track he became acquainted with structural biology, in particular structural investigation of TRP ion channels. He was awarded a Radboudumc-PhD grant to continue studying ion channel structures at atomic resolution, in collaboration with Prof. Yifan Cheng at UCSF (USA). During his PhD, he will focus on the purification of renal sodium channels, prepping them for structural investigation with single-particle cryo-electron microscopy. The goal of this research project is to unravel the molecular building blocks of renal sodium channels in an effort to structurally characterize diuretic-binding and diuretic activity modulation.
